We’ve all heard of skin types, but how much do we actually know about them? For starters, do you know what your skin type is?

In general, skin types can be classified based on several factors, two of which are very important for aging and wrinkles. The first concerns the color of the skin and complexion, i.e. the presence of melanin in the skin, while the second concerns the presence of sebum and natural oils in and on the facial skin.

Based on skin color, dermatologists distinguish as many as 6 skin types that make up the palette from the lightest skin color to the darkest. Everyone who belongs to the higher types (from the fourth to the sixth), has a higher presence of melanin in the skin, which means that they are more resistant to the sun.

The sun and the sun’s rays are among the most important factors on which aging depends, when it comes to external influences. In short, this means that if you are naturally very pale and have fair skin, you also have a better chance of getting wrinkles early, which can become more pronounced over the years.

The second criterion concerns specifically facial skin and distinguishes 5 skin types:

– dry
– sensitive
– normal
– mixed
– greasy.

It is true that our skin becomes drier and more sensitive with age, but a lot depends on the type of skin, how early the wrinkles will appear and whether they will be strong and deep. According to some established rule, dry and sensitive skin ages the fastest, while oily skin is privileged in that regard.

Mixed skin, quite impressively, will not age equally in all parts of the face, but wrinkles will appear where the skin is drier, such as around the eyes or, less often, around the lips. This means that you will need the best cream for wrinkles around the eyes or lips, while you will take care of the rest of the skin completely differently.


Why is the skin still prone to wrinkles?

In addition to genetics and skin type, many things can cause your skin to age faster and cause deep wrinkles.

The reason for this lies in the fact that UVA and UVB rays break down collagen and elastin, two proteins necessary for young and smooth skin.

That is why it is necessary to always apply a cream with a protective factor that blocks both types of UV rays (usually the creams say that they block a wide range of rays). This is especially true for those parts of the day when the sun is strongest, when the skin needs a minimum factor of 30.

In summer, you will definitely need to tighten precautions, stay out of the sun (no matter how fast you want to tan) and buy a cream with a much higher factor that you will apply regularly (for about 2 hours or immediately after leaving the sea / pool).


Acne and wrinkles – is there a connection?

Acne is usually associated with oily skin types, and we said that they are harder to get wrinkles. Does this mean that acne does not cause wrinkles? Unfortunately, not really.

If you were hoping that the pain with acne would end once you get rid of it, you are wrong. Acne can lead to lower collagen production in the skin, and therefore your skin type is prone to wrinkles.

The truth, in fact, lies in the treatments used to treat pimples and acne. If you use more aggressive preparations and cosmetic treatments, you can damage the facial skin and disturb its balance. This, among other things, is directly reflected in the amount of collagen and elastin in the skin, and thus in the early appearance of wrinkles.

What is it, then advice? For starters, stay away from strong chemicals. Turn to natural cosmetics, mild peels and acne creams that will not harm the skin. If you take care of acne incorrectly, you risk getting scars, which further leads to disruption of the skin structure, so it can also affect the appearance of wrinkles.

As we have already said, the fact that you cannot stop aging completely should not discourage you. No matter how problematic the skin and the type of skin prone to wrinkles are, there is a way to influence the appearance of your facial skin and how quickly wrinkles will appear.

Your main weapon in the fight against aging are various anti-wrinkle creams, and because it is always more effective to use those that are prevention, that is, those that will prevent wrinkles before they appear.

However, before we move on to specific skin care with anti-wrinkle creams and preparations, let’s determine what is the basic step of protection against wrinkles. The first step is two things:

– cream with a protective factor and
– moisturizer.

We have already talked about the harmful effects of the sun’s rays and the importance of protection from them. But moisturizer is just as important for quality facial skin care. Hydration is very important for the production of collagen and elastin and is probably most responsible for smooth and healthy skin.

Today, these two creams are usually combined, that is, a quality daily moisturizer already contains a certain SP factor. Moreover, many liquid powders contain it today. However, that does not mean that you will not need stronger protection on those days when the sun is stronger.

When it comes to anti-wrinkle creams in particular, the best anti-aging creams you can afford are creams that contain antioxidants (such as vitamin C) that help to adequately protect the skin from various external influences and damage.

Then, you need creams that contain special active formulas that prevent the formation of wrinkles, the so-called anti-age creams. Of course, there are several types of them, so it is best to adjust them to your age so that you do not use too strong ingredients too soon.

Roughly, they say that anti-age creams should start in the twenties (later if you have a skin type that is not prone to wrinkles). Although modern dermatology thinks that it may be too early, nothing harmful can happen to you if you choose a mild anti-age cream that, for this age, practically only maintains hydration and elasticity.

When you are over 30, you can include retinol in your regular facial skin care regimen, which is perhaps the main ingredient in the fight against wrinkles. It is most often found in creams, but also in serums and eye creams.

In any case, whatever you choose, make sure that this product suits your skin type so that the skin is not damaged. Also, stick to a care system once you adopt it. This means no skipping steps.

Some of the following tips may sound like real torture, but it has been proven that bad life habits in most cases manifest themselves in the form of bad skin that ages quickly.

When it comes to skin type prone to wrinkles, it’s not just about healthy habits that you can incorporate into your daily routine to slow down aging. On the contrary, it is much more about giving up bad habits.

If you do not eat enough vitamins, you can always make up for them with supplements or creams. If you decide not to exercise, you can help your skin get rid of toxins with various cosmetic and spa treatments. However, you can’t think of anything for bad habits that will nullify their effect.

The first bad habit you should give up is smoking. In addition to accelerating the formation of wrinkles due to the characteristic facial movements, nicotine directly dries the skin, slows down the production of elastin and collagen and creates unevenness in the complexion. Try to stop, and you will see that your skin will glow.
